But first…
Let me just tell you - I used to HATE my body.
Hate might even be the wrong word.
It was more like OBSESSED.
Whenever I saw myself in the mirror, in a photo, in a video - even in a reflection walking past a car or a storefront - I couldn’t help but zoom in on whatever body part I didn't like that day.
The worst part was what I made it mean about myself…
I wasn’t enough.
Nobody is going to like me.
I’m not loveable.

All this negative self-talk because of how I looked.
It was truly debilitating.
I would change clothes and pick myself apart in the mirror multiple times before I went out.
I can’t even count how many times right before I pulled up to meet with family or friends, girlfriends, business associates, whomever - I would want to leave right away so that I didn't have to feel inadequate around other people.
To say that I spent a great deal of time obsessing over my physique would be an understatement.
When I got dressed, when I got undressed - I literally hated seeing my own reflection unless the lighting and angles were just right - the darker the better.
I was too skinny.
I had too much fat here or there.
I wasn’t big enough.
I didn't look strong enough.
I looked frail and weak.
Worst of all, this routine sucked the life right out of me.
Truthfully, I was very unkind to myself.
And it affected my life in more ways than I can count.
My self-esteem suffered.
My confidence was at an all-time low.
And my relationships were always on the rocks because I was always irritable about how I looked.
Turned out that I had a condition called Body Image Distortion.
What I saw in the mirror was very different from what others saw when they looked at me.
I also had Dysmorphia, meaning that I picked out a single body part that I hated, and obsessed over it until I found another body part that I hated more.
I literally drove myself mad.
Something had to change.
I so desperately wanted to have a strong, muscular body.
At first, it was to feel good about myself, but also, so that I didn’t get picked on anymore.
Then, it was so that I could compete with the bigger, stronger kids when I tried out for a sports team.
And then it was to attract the pretty girls, who only seemed to like the guys with nice bodies.
I was so skinny in my youth that I was willing to do just about anything to feel good about how I looked.
The one thing I refused to do, though - was take steroids.
Interestingly enough, what I discovered by Metabolic Ratcheting - I didn’t have to.

The back story is that a few years ago, I went on a two week vacation to New York.
It was summertime and with all the pool parties, beach days, and nights out with family & friends, I had all the bagels, pizza, and pasta a guy could handle in two weeks.
Add in drinks, skipping meals, skipping sleep, very little rest, and not working out - I really let myself go.
Needless to say, I put on a few extra pounds of unwanted body fat very quickly.

I didn't get obese.

I did not like the way I looked or felt by the time my vacation ended.
